Welcome to Arts on the Out!

This site is designed to help prisoners and ex-prisoners interested in the arts.

Maybe you’ve discovered arts activities while inside and want to take them further; maybe you’ve always thought of becoming an artist, but never been sure where to start…

Whether you’re thinking of pursuing an arts related career, or just fancy getting involved for fun, this site will provide you with lots of useful info and advice.

Check out the fact sheet section for info on each arts form and how to get involved… watch interviews of ex-cons now working in the arts…get some financial tips on how to fund your passion…

Most of the info and advice on this site comes from ex-prisoners who managed to create a successful career in the arts for themselves; so they know where you’re coming from and where you’d like to get to!

Anne Peaker Centre for Arts in Criminal Justice

Management Information Services Development

It is our aim to offer an ex offender a voluntary work placement with Anne Peaker Centre.  Their role would be to specifically develop the management information services; namely the website Arts on the Out.  This would initially be a three year contract, working 20 hours per week.  The salary would be £11,830 pro rata, 5% pension contribution.

The Arts on the Out service is accessed by offenders, prisoners, ex-offenders and prison and criminal justice staff.  The site will continue to provide useful information and advice, which focuses strongly on jobs in creative and cultural industries for offenders, with employers within the sector driving the design and delivery of programmes.   This role will be directly supervised by the development manager.  This person will have access to all APCentre resources e.g. library and events.  They will also be encouraged to undertake any training events that are relevant and will be given guidance and support from staff namely CEO mentoring and supervision.  This role will suit an ex offender who is keen to move into the arts sector in the capacity of arts administration/research and information.

Outcomes

As a small charity we are unable to help with relocation expenses and the role will be based predominantly within our Canterbury Offices.  For more information please contact: Bridget Edwards, Chief Executive Officer on 01227 471006 ceo@apcentre.org.uk
